20 Dollar Closet Makeover – Upcycling & Repurposing
Let’s face it, organizing your closet can be a daunting task. But what if I told you that the solution to your cluttered wardrobe could be found in the most unlikely of places – your recycling bin! That’s right, using recycled materials can turn your chaotic closet into a stylish, eco-friendly haven for your clothes.
Organizing your closet with recycled materials is an extremely economical option. Not only does it reduce the amount of waste in landfills, but it also saves you money as you won’t have to buy new organizers or storage containers. I recently gave my closet a much need makeover with recycled materials and a few things from Dollars Tree. I spent less than 20 dollars, and I am really happy with how it turned out.
Using recycled items such as cardboard boxes, cans, and old cereal boxes, can easily create functional and stylish organizers for your closet. That not only saves you money but also helps to preserve natural resources and reduce the carbon footprint associated with producing new products. Additionally, using recycled materials can also add a unique touch to your closet and give it a personalized feel. By choosing to use recycled materials, you can easily create a clutter-free and eco-friendly closet without breaking the bank.
Here are a few of the creative and quirky storage solutions I used to transform my closet.
Cardboard Box Shelf Storage
To make these storage boxes, I started with boxes that reams of paper come in. I did have to cut them down and tape them back together to make them shorter, but they were the perfect width to fit on my shelves.
Once the boxes were the correct size, I covered them with some Dollar Tree contact paper and added some homemade labels.
Cereal Box Closet Dividers
I started with a cereal box and magazine paper to make these simple closet dividers. I tore the paper into small pieces, used a glue stick to attach it to the cardboard, and then cut out the tag shape with scissors and glued on a paper label.
Next, I punched a hole in the top to attach a couple of jump rings and then added a shower curtain ring from Dollar Tree.
Tin Can Boot Trees
If your boots are feeling a little flat, losing their shape, and becoming a mess in your closet, You can fix them in a jiffy with these tin can boot trees. You need three regular sized cans for each boot. First open the cans with a safety can opener so the tops can be put back in place. Once the cans are collected and cleaned just use some tape to attach three together into a tower. I used metal tape but duct tape would work as well.
To finish place them in your boots. Not only will they bring life back to your boots, but they’re also a fantastic way to recycle those old tin cans that have been taking up space in your kitchen.
