DIY Bead-able Pens Fast, Fun, For all Ages
This has to be one of the fastest and easiest projects I have ever shared. There is a small caveat here: it is fast once you have the beads made.
I like to make mine from beer and soda cans.
I think they are so pretty and shiny once they are colored with the alcohol ink, but that’s just my preference.
There are numerous other materials to use for bead-making, some new and some recycled. You can use magazines to make rolled paper beads, fashion interesting shapes from air-dry clay, or design your beads using fabrics and plastics. You can even repurpose old jewelry.
Choose your favorite material and style, or if you must, you can purchase beads for this project, too.
You might get addicted and make too many, but not to worry, they make great little gifts.
You can:
- Give them out as party favors
- Use them for stocking stuffers
- Pair them with handmade journals or sketchbooks
- Share them with co-workers
- Leave one with your tip for your favorite waitperson
So, have some fun with this simple and lightning-fast project.

All you need for this project are your beads and these beadable pens.
Step 1 – Remove the end cap from the pen.
Step 2 – Add beads and replace the end cap.
