How to paint shoes – Shoe painting 101
Hello fellow crafters,
Have you ever painted your shoes? It’s easy and fun. I have actually made several painted shoe projects over the years and these boots are my latest creation. You might be curious what would possess someone to paint a pair of boots green as it is not the most prevalent shoe color.
It all started because we had plans to visit the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade this year and so wearing green was a must. Now my philosophy is, if you are going to be silly dressing for an occasion you might as well take it over the top, especially on Saint Patrick’s Day. Right? So after creating these green tops I decided to make myself some green shoes to match.
You really don’t need a lot of fancy supplies. I have used all kinds of different paints on my projects including left over house paint. In this case I did splurge and purchase two different colors of green paint.
Supplies
- DecoArt Sage Green All Purpose Acrylic Paint
- DecoArt Plantation Pine Acrylic Paint
- Minwax water based Polycrylic (I love this stuff I have used it on so many of my projects)
- Two paint brushes (one nice brush with a soft flat straight tip for painting and one all purpose brush to use with the polycrylic finish
- Scissors
- E6000 Clear Glue

Happy Upcycling,
Oh my gosh, those boots look SOOO much cooler with the two-tone green painting! Love!! 🙂 Lisa
I like the red white and blue shoes. I paint everything else and use to dye my shoes to match an outfit so I say why not!
Thanks so much for your comment.
