DIY Flat or Hanging Craft Show Jewelry Display – Fast and Frugal
It’s peak craft show season, and if you are preparing your booth for this year’s holiday events, I have a couple of inexpensive DIY jewelry display ideas that you can make in minutes.
I am getting ready for a craft show in November, and I wanted a more professional way to display my jewelry pieces. I am really happy with how both of these displays turned out and best of all, they cost almost nothing, and I made several of them in one afternoon.
Flat Display
To make one flat display, you will need:
- Four paint stir sticks
- Seven popsicle sticks (4 to make the display and 3 to use as temporary spacers)
- pencil
- 12 inch T-square
- wood glue
Step 1 – Mark
On the printed side of one 12-inch paint stick, mark 1 3/4″ – 4 1/2″ – 7 1/2″ – 10 1/4″
**These are the measurements that I used for my 2×3-inch cards. You may want to adjust the size of your items.
With the straight edge, align three more paint sticks alternating the handle end.
Next draw a line across all the pieces at the measurement points.
Step 2 – Space
Keeping the paint sticks square, add one popsicle stick between each paint stick to make a small gap between the paint sticks.
Step 3 – Glue
Use a small amount of wood glue to attach one popsicle stick to each end of the paint sticks centered on the marked lines. Add weight if needed to adhere the pieces together.
Once the glue has time to set up, remove the popsicle spacers and repeat the gluing process for the remaining marked lines.
Once the glue is dry, your flat display is ready.
Hanging Display
To make one hanging display, you will need:
- One finished flat display
- One additional paint stir stick
- wooden skewers or dowels
- wood glue
- small clothes pins (1 1/2″)
- Cordless drill
- Center punch
- Sandpaper
- Sanding sponge
- Nail pulling pliers
Step 4 – Drill
Mark the center of each popsicle stick, matching the center of the top paint stick. Next use a center punch to start the hole.
Select the correct drill bit size (size should match the skewer or dowel you are using) and drill four holes in the display.
Step 5 – Glue
Use the wood glue to attach the clothspins to the top of the display on the back next to the popsicle sticks and then attach the extra paint stir stick to the bottom of the display.
Step 6 – Cut
Next mark and cut the skewers or dowels to the lenght you want. I am using 2 1/2″ for mine. Sand down the rough edges and mark the end that goes into the display with a sharpie.
Step 7 – Assemble
Fit the cut and sanded pegs in the holes add wood glue if desired. I am keeping my pegs loose for easier storage when the displays are not in use.
That’s it easy peasy and done. Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Crafting,
Cindy
