How to Make Beads from Aluminum Beer and Soda Drink Cans
This is one of my favorite aluminum can crafts. Once you learn a few tips and tricks, you can easily turn your next drink can into some pretty metal beads for jewelry and other projects.

Hello Cindy
I just came across your post today about upclyling with cans!! So plan on doing these projects. I taught myself several years ago how to cut wine bottles i got from the recycling center and I’d make wind chimes!! I gave up cutting with usi g string dipped in nail polish and wrapping it atmround the bottle. I gave up on the hot and cold temps to get the bottle to separate. I have my own fool proof way!!! I had a craft boirh and would sell them. I used to have a couple of microwave kilns but they have gotten lost in my moves since i left an abusive marriage.
90 % of my crafting comes from recycling stuff so it doesn’t end up in a landfill.
I used to teach arts and crafts at Disability in Action when i lived in texas and that is my passion. I have taught mod podge at the community College where i currently live. In this class we use wine bottles i got from the recycling center.
I always love to see people create art out of recycled items.
Hi Lori,
Thanks for your comment. I love to hear from other upcyclers. I have kind of given up on cutting bottles as I can never get the score lines to match. All the best. Cindy 🙂

I cannot find the butterfly wing pattern you talked about in your you tube video. Where can I locate it? I have searched everywhere. I tried to register but it would not allow me….? Please help? Thank you!
Hi Susan,
The butterfly wing template is at the bottom of this post.

If you have trouble with the link you can also search the term butterfly on my blog and the post should come up.
Let me know if you have any other questions or problems.
