Surebonder Cordless Glue Gun Review

Hi There, and Happy New Year to you.

What’s your favorite thing about the new year? Mine is going to sound ridiculous but bear with me here. Believe it or not, it is the same thing every year.

My favorite thing about the New Year is my brand new day planner!

Yes, I know how shallow and trivial that sounds. So to make myself sound less bubble-headed, let me add that while I do love the clean blank pages, it is what those pages represent that tickles my fancy. They are ripe with possibilities, and anything could happen. Why I almost believe in magic as I leaf through the empty pages. It is a powerful feeling to hold an entire unwritten and mysterious year in my hands.

Sure there is a high probability that my life will continue in its unremarkable but pleasant way. Also, it is unlikely that I will do anything of real significance, and of course, there will be some rough patches to navigate.

But the new year and the blank pages of my day planner still always spark curiosity, hope, and excitement. Those days that are yet to be written are somehow delightfully magnified by being bound together in a 365-page package. Sometimes I flip ahead a month or more and wonder what I will be doing on that day in the future. What will be written in the blank space before me?

It gives me a little rush because I am not much of a daredevil or thrill-seeker, so my threshold for excitement is pretty low. Still, I can imagine myself doing something very daring on that future date. From the safety of my living room couch, I picture engaging in something crazy like answering a call from an unknown number or getting myself a new haircut. 🙃

Ok, let’s face it, I might be a little averse to change and risk-taking.

Still, at the beginning of a new year, it is possible to believe that I might do something amazing in 2022. So I wrote about some of my life’s adventures here to prove that I have had a few memorable moments. But certainly, years of my life have passed without any significant accomplishments, not all of them, however. So you never know.

My lack of risk-taking and resistance to change may be why I have been using the same worn-out glue gun for the last million years. Alright, I don’t actually have any idea how old it is, but I can’t remember having any other glue gun. So it’s is pretty old, or I have started to lose my memory or both.

Anyhow it’s a new year, and my first big daring act is to upgrade my glue gun. Don’t worry. I am not really going to write that down in my day planner for future generations to read.

Because:

1) that would be weird, and

2) I like to believe that I am not that dull and

3) there is very little reason to believe that future generations would be interested in reading any of my day planner entries—even the super exciting ones.

Unless:

1) The Zombie apocalypse is real, and some poor unsuspecting human is trapped in my home after all the actual reading material has been scavenged for firewood. I know personal day planners should be the first thing we burn, but everything is really messed up in the Zombie apocalypse, so it could happen. Or

2) My great-great grand-niece has to do a writing assignment about her weirdest ancestor. Or

3) If computers take over and upload all written material into their borg-like database. But I don’t know if that really counts because computers aren’t considered a future generation. And my entry about using a new glue gun being a big deal would undoubtedly confirm that humans are stupid and deserve to be dominated by machines. So for all those reasons, but especially to save humanity from a technology takeover, I will not make this banal notation in my day planner.

Or maybe I am not noting this achievement purely because they never put cool glue gun stickers in day planners for me to use with my crafting entries. I presume this is because they have no imagination or don’t like glue guns. Or it could be that the average person would be like, “Why in the blazes is there a glue gun sticker in my day planner?”

But I like to think a few others out there would be excited by a glue gun sticker, and if that’s not true, well, then at least I saved the world.

On the topic of stickers, what is with all the party and celebrate stickers anyway? And the wedding stickers. Like really, how many of those do you need in a year? There are “meeting” stickers, “important” stickers, and “star” stickers. None of which I use and all of which make me feel that somehow my life isn’t living up to my day planner’s expectations. I mean, for heaven’s sake, I don’t need 20 airplane stickers. I hardly ever even leave the house.

So as much as I love my new day planner, I hate the stickers and think they should be ripped out immediately before they do permanent damage to my self-image. I mean, I have a full-length mirror for that!

Anyway, enough of my silliness. Would you like to know what I discovered about my new glue gun? Oh yes, that is why you are here.

If you have an inexpensive small glue gun that you paid about five dollars for, the price tag of 20 to 25 might seem a little high. But this glue gun has many features that you don’t get with a 5 dollar glue gun.

Cord or No Cord

I bought this hot melt gun because of the cordless option, which, for me, is worth the price right there.

You can plug the cord directly into the glue gun to use it as a regular gun or plug the cord into the charging stand to go cordless.

Safety Features – Laydown Fins

These fins allow you to safely lay the gun down without putting it back in the stand. They keep the hot parts of the glue gun off your working surface and hold the gun at an angle to keep the melted glue from running back insides the heating element.

Built in Drip Pad

I would love to tell you that this glue gun doesn’t drip, but I don’t think there is such a thing. However, I can tell you that the Surebonder Cordless doesn’t drip nearly as much as my mini glue gun, and the drip pad is super easy to clean off.

On/Off Switch

The Surebonder Cordless glue gun also has an on/off switch.

And there is an indicator light on the back. So you can tell when it is on.

Safety Tip

The metal portion of the tip is much small than the top on my mini glue gun, and while the surrounding plastic does get hot, it does not reach the scalding temperatures of the metal tip. This feature makes it safer to use without fingertip burns.

Thanks for stopping by. It is always a pleasure spending some time with you.

Happy Upcycling,

P.S.

Here are a couple of zany projects made with my mini corded hot glue gun. So there is no telling what I might be capable of now that I am cord-free. Look out, world!!!
