Over the years, I have made many crafts using tin cans, many of them from the top or lid of the cans, like these mini Christmas trees and Costers.

Whenever I do a project like this, I mention that I used a safety or side-cut can opener, but I still get a lot of questions about the “razor-sharp edges” of my projects. This has led me to believe that even though this type of can opener has been around for years, it is still not largely understood or widely used.

So I thought I would share my thoughts on the exciting topic of can openers. Of course, you may think these can openers are just for assisting with food prep, but I believe they also make great crafting tools.
